Larissa FastHorse

MacArthur Fellow
Professor of Practice, The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

FastHorse (Sicangu Lakota) is a professor of practice in the Department of English and the Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. She is a 2020 MacArthur Fellow whose satire, “The Thanksgiving Play,” made her the first known female Native American playwright on Broadway. FastHorse is the book writer for the updated “Peter Pan” musical and also a writer for film and television, most recently for NBC, Disney, Netflix and others. The MacArthur committee pointed to her accomplishments in "creating space for Indigenous artists, stories, and experiences in mainstream theater and countering misrepresentation of Native American perspectives in broader society."
